I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Georgia License #2835) with over 30 years of experience providing individual and family therapy to children 12 and older, adolescents, and adults.
I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Georgia School of Social Work and my Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where I double-majored in Psychology and Social Science Interdisciplinary.
Over the course of my career, I have worked in psychiatric hospitals, elementary schools, adolescent and adult day treatment programs, drug and alcohol treatment centers, residential treatment programs for adolescents, juvenile probation and court programs, community mental health centers, and private practice. This background has given me a broad and informed perspective on the challenges individuals and families face.
I am a Certified Brainspotting Therapist, offering this brain-body based approach to help clients access, process, and release deeply held trauma and emotional distress that may not be fully reached through talk therapy alone. Brainspotting supports the brain's natural healing processes to reduce symptoms such as anxiety, PTSD, and performance blocks while promoting more lasting emotional regulation.
I have extensive training in treating adolescents with sexually inappropriate behaviors, as well as adolescents and adults struggling with substance use and related concerns. I have many years experience working with youth referred from the juvenile court system.
Over the course of my career, I began by primarily working with adolescents, but my practice has grown to include more adults and now serves a client population that is roughly 50% adults and 50% adolescents. I am passionate about supporting both adolescents and adults as they navigate significant life changes, and I am dedicated to offering a calm, consistent environment where clients can reflect, grow, and move toward lives that feel more balanced and fulfilling.
In my work with clients, my style is active and direct. While I provide a warm, supportive environment, I also challenge clients to take an honest look at their patterns and to engage fully in the work of change. I do more than simply sit and listen. I ask focused questions, offer clear feedback, and collaborate with you on practical strategies you can use between sessions. My goal is to help you build insight and then translate that insight into concrete, sustainable changes in your daily life.
